LEGIO.ultrafiltration: more than 30 years of experience  12. Oktober 2009  -  LEGIO.ultrafiltration: more than 30 years of experience

LEGIO, hailing from the land of scientists Baden-Württemberg in Germany and well-known as the specialist in Ultrafiltration, is extending its product range. Beside legally protected proceedings of washing Ultrafiltration modules, also the membranes itself are upgraded designed.

Applied for patent 7-bore-membranes have a high precise selectivity and a bacteria reduction of higher than LOG 8. That means, out of 150.000.000 bacteria not even one can pass the membranes – a prominent result.

LEGIO is not able to deliver unbreakable membranes, like some other manufacturers are insisting to be. But due to the foam structure of the capillary hoses they could establish an unbeatable high stability of their membranes.

As shown on the picture (following the below mentioned link), the foam structure is extensively minimizing the flow resistance and therefore avoiding the accumulating of microbiology in the pores. More than 30 years of experience is a guarantee for quality at the highest stage.

About 40 different kinds of module types of sizes from 0,25 m² up to 60 m² having a temperature resistance of up to 80°C do offer a variety of new applications.

The products range is completed with individually customized Ultrafiltration modules. Therefore existing housings can be arranged easily with new membranes.

LEGIO was the first company inserting the membrane technology for the purpose of legionella prophylaxis. Even after around 6 years operation time the membranes are of proper condition. Especially the Ultrafiltration being installed at the point-of-use behind the faucet ensures the actually highest possible prophylaxis against legionella.

Typical places of installations are gymnasiums, spas and swimming pools, industrial plants, administration buildings, prisons and more. During the pending year of 2009 this technology is going to be installed on an international airport.

Ultrafiltration systems for drinking water treatment are in the field worldwide. Also in flashpoints such as Afghanistan big LEGIO.plants for water supply are applied. Only in 2009 LEGIO has delivered more than 100 Ultrafiltration units to South America. In almost 30 countries LEGIO.systems are in daily operation. Thanks to high degree of automation with innovative disinfection systems, no common chemicals are needed for durable operation. Simple sea salt is enough for cleaning the LEGIO.membranes.

Even special applications can be realized within short times due to tight production processes. LEGIO is a company with straight technical orientation so decision ways are short but effective.

Ultrafiltration membrane technology can be declared as THE future proceeding. LEGIO is joining from the very beginning and in the meanwhile showing a substantial and international experience. Especially small and middle size systems are the outstanding lines of action of LEGIO. Market analysts do picture a mega business.

Waterprices and a world of happiness  10. Oktober 2009  -  Waterprices and a world of happiness

Water for nothing – unlimited use – always best quality. This is not a vision of political dreamers, this is reality, in Europe, in Ireland. In that country only industrial contractors pay for water. Private users can take the precious wet for free. This is perfection, because water same as air is the most important comestible for human being. Without oxygen man can survive for three minutes, without water only three days and without food three weeks.

Reason for a worldwide survey, please see attached chart, was the fact, that for majority of mankind water of good quality is not existing or not affordable. The investigation distinguished between bottled water and water of public water suppliers, but the last mentioned without accounting for quality. In many countries of the world people generally use only filled water in gallons or tanks. Bangladesh is one of the countries with the lowest price for bottled water: 1 liter is about EURO 0,10. On purpose we do not say “only” 10 Cent, because for a family father earning 2 EURO per day, 10 Cent mean a high amount. Around 15 million people in West-Bangladesh get drinking water out of wells. Those have high burden on bacteria but even more fatal is load on arsenic in the water, which is washed out of the Himalaya rocks. The arsenic is carried by the rivers towards the flat delta on the coast. In the smooth area the heavy metal is settling. But the human organism is taken ill by drinking this kind of water, infant mortality is increasing, adult`s disablement is heading up, the elderly are dying sooner.

Let`s have a look to overseas: probably Australia is the country with the most expensive bottled water (average price for 1,5 Ltr is EUR 3,09). Thus government is boosting water consumption from public water suppliers, and furthermore they constrict using plastic drinking bottles for protection of the environment.

But we haven´t to go so far away : also in Germany (one of the countries with the most expensive domestic water) water must be bought expensively from public water nets, even though good quality water is given from own wells. Some mayors do forcefully support the local water suppliers. For any kind of reasons they are increasing the value of own shares, even then when high investments for connections never do amortise. Sad background: mostly municipalities are shareholders of local water suppliers.

It`s not depending on technology, that water from small sources also can have best quality. Older technologies pin their hope on risky radiation of water germs, which only acts on very clear water. Since beginning of this century a new technology is winning through, which is following the cleaning effectiveness of our planet earth:
it is the filtration, which is simply filtering germs and sediments our of the water - in fact it is the ultrafiltration, which allows out of 150.000.000 Coli-bacteria not even one to pass through. An almost unbelievable reduction, but simple and logical. An easy rinsable membrane filter with a pore size of 0,02 µm (1 mm = 100 µm) filters the flowing water removing turbidity, bacteria, virus – without needing external energy.

Future is made of this technology: such a system can be applied for big cities as well as in small sizes for single families. When converted costs will be reduced immensly, 1 liter water is only a few Cent, wherever in the world. Some countries of the Middle East and South-America do it first: the population, also building private citizen`s initiatives, made the water suppliers improve the water situation with small systems. Thousands of villages receive their own small water supply. These projects are actually financed out of international development schemes. Locally first industrial sectors are generated, like in former times e.g. Daimler, Bosch or Sony.

It is an exciting process to see, who will supply the future market with this technology for cheap high quality drinking water.
We can come closer to our dream. Our dream of all people on earth having water and oxygen for free – beared by the collective.
